Soulace Placida – A Skill for Peace and Enterprise Development Program kicks off in Barracks across Ibadan.We are excited to announce the commencement of our six month women and girls empowerment and skill training program. The project which is curated to drive skill change within the low income communities in Ibadan Oyo state capital shall be focusing on transforming lives of women and girls within selected Army and Police Barracks across Ibadan. This initiative that was proudly sponsored by Act Foundation aimed at ameliorating extreme poverty being caused by continued gross unemployment, lack of or obsoleteness of market ready or entrepreneurial skill set, gender imbalance and deepened women dependence culture within these communities. The project which is in two phases of three months each, will run consecutively in both army and police enclaves. On Monday 14th June 2021 we began the implementation of first phase of this project which with six weeks each at the 2nd Dvision Headquarters, Nigeria Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ojoo Ibadan after which we shall proceed to Leutmuck Cantonment, Mokola Ibadan for another six weeks. About two hundred beneficiaries comprises of military wives and their girls within age sixteen and forty five are in line to be equipped with practical skills in kampalaprenuer (making livelihood and business out of indigenous textile printmaking Fashion Design and Textile Craft) in these barracks. This effort is in tandem with the united nation sustainable development goals sixteen and other related goals such that eradicate poverty and address social inequality, hunger, health and wellness. Placida which means peacable is Soulace deliberate scheme to bring peace to women folks across these highly ethnic diversified community in Ibadan.
